I Pledge to Support Human and Civil Rights.

All of us consider ourselves to be law-abiding people, who believe that the State has the right to enact and enforce laws for the common good. However, there are moments in history when it becomes necessary to resist laws that are wrong.

There was a day when the law did not allow women to vote, but that did not make it right. There was a day where the law allowed one human being to own another, but that did not make it right. There was a day when United States citizens of Japanese descent were rounded up and placed in internment camps, but that did not make it right.

We believe that the enactment of AZ SB 1070 is another such moment in history.

For these specific reasons and because we support human and civil rights, we have decided to refuse to cooperate with this new statute, which Governor Brewer signed on April 23, 2010.

WHEREAS: We consider ourselves to be law-abiding people and

WHEREAS: There was a day when the law did not allow women to vote, allowed one

WHEREAS: None of those laws were right
WHEREAS: We believe that the enactment of AZ SB 1070 is another such moment
in history.
Be it therefore resolved for these specific reasons and because we support human
and civil rights, we refuse to cooperate with this new statute.
